Lian Schout has won the prestigious Hydraulic Engineering Award 2024 in the Applied Science category!! Lian graduated from the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences with her comparative research between Trisoplast Mineral Liners and dike clay. After many longitudinal flow and wave load tests in the hydraulic engineering flume of Rotterdam, she was able to conclude that Trisoplast is considerably more resistant to erosion than clay (erosion classes 1 and 2).
Overall conclusion is that Trisoplast is a promising replacement for clay for dike improvements!! The Flanders Engineering Prize jury praised the design, elaboration, analysis and presentation of Lian's graduation work. We are proud to have been able to guide Lian as Tritech Solutions, together with Antea Group Nederland Group and the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, through her direction. Moreover, it is also nice that the 1st prize in the University category was also won by a woman. Women run the male stronghold of (Dutch) Hydraulic Engineering! Lian, good luck with your further career, and now with Boskalis Netherlands!
